Feeling the need for retail therapy, Hayden Panettiere was spotted hitting up Saks Fifth Avenue in Beverly Hills yesterday afternoon (July 1).

Joined by a gal pal, the “Heroes” hottie looked summertime sexy as she made her way to her car while sporting a yellow scoopneck top with denim cutoff shorts.

In related news, it seems Miss Panettiere is back on the market after the dissolution of her short-lived romance with British television presenter Steve Jones.

Explaining the reason for the split, Hayden told press, “I’m single and mingling. Steve lives in London and the distance is a bit too much.”

It may be hard to believe, but celebrities go through tough times too, and Hayden Panettiere is not afraid to talk about hers.

The “Heroes” star admits she struggled with her dad's 2008 arrest for felony domestic violence against her mother after it was reported that he smacked his wife across the face, leaving an undeniable bruise.

The 19-year-old tells Seventeen magazine, "I mean, it's hard enough going through it personally within your family, let alone when the entire world knows about it."

Hayden added later that it kills her to think that her father has a reputation for being an abusive person because that is not how he is at all.

Hayden Panettiere was attracted to her first crush because he was so good at "kickball".

The 'Heroes' actress - whose relationship with co-star Milo Ventimiglia ended earlier this year - was besotted with the boy because of his brilliant sports skills, but was left crushed when she realised he was more interested in her best friend.

She revealed: "My biggest crush was in the second grade on this kid named Mike. He was really good at kickball.

"Mike had a crush on my friend though. I was jealous, so I told her that he told me that he had a crush on both of us. So it made me feel a little bit better about the whole thing."

In no mood to be photographed, Hayden Panettiere was spotted out to eat at Katsu-Ya restaurant in Los Angeles on Friday night (June 19).

Dressed casually and sporting her spectacles, the “Heroes” hottie covered up her face as paparazzi snapped up shots as she hopped out of a cab and headed into the popular Japanese eatery.

Meanwhile, Miss Panettiere recently chatted with press about her thoughts on being a role model.

She tells, “I think the only problem with attempting to be a role model is the fact that you just want to go, ‘okay, I’ll be a role model for you. I’d love to, but don’t expect me to be perfect because I’m not and I do screw up and I do make mistakes and I can’t always think of everyone else and what they’re going to say’.”

Continuing on, Hayden adds, “Because at the end of the day the only person you can make happy is yourself. No matter whether it’s wrong or right or looks good or looks bad, somebody will hate it. Somebody will.”
